Description

The camera uses a Sony IMX585 sensor. As one of ZWO’s latest planetary cameras, it features a large sensor size of 1/1.2″ with a high resolution of 3840*2160 and surprisingly no amp-glow! The pixel size is 2.9µm*2.9µm. In 12-bit mode, it achieves a speed of 46.9 frames per second with very low read noise.

The camera sensor has the same pixel size as the ASI462MC but the resolution is four times higher, comprising 8.29 megapixels. The sensor size is 11.13*+.26mm. The sensor size makes it excellent for imaging the sun and moon. It can also be used as a sky camera for meteor and weather monitoring.

The camera uses STARVIS2 technology. No amp-glow, lower read noise and triple the well capacity compared to the ASI462 camera. The camera can be thought of as an upgrade to the ASI485 camera.
